A calmer way to monitor nighttime movement at home.
When your child needs nighttime monitoring, rest can feel complicated.
You may be checking constantly, sleeping lightly, or wondering what happened after the room went quiet. Sami was created by parents who understand that kind of night, and built to help caregivers monitor sleep, receive movement alerts, and review recorded events with more clarity.
You want to sleep, but your brain stays on watch.
Constant checking, co-sleeping, or listening for every sound can become exhausting.
A regular monitor does not organize the night.
Live video helps in the moment, but it does not highlight and record movement events for later review.
Wearables don’t work for everyone.
Some people are too young, sensory-sensitive, or simply forget to keep a device charged and on through the night.
Without video, it can be hard to show your care team what happened
Recordings can make it easier to review timing, movement, and context during follow-up conversations.
How Sami solves this
A calmer loop: watch, alert, record, review.
Sami is built around the way caregivers actually use nighttime information: know when movement happens, respond if needed, and review the event later with more context.
Position the Sami Camera
Place it near the sleep area with a clear view. Nothing needs to be worn.
Set movement alert preferences
Use customizable settings to fit your room, sleeper, and caregiver needs.
Customize when Sami alerts you
Choose how much movement matters, how long it should continue, and when alerts should be active.
Review recorded events
Record movement events locally so you can look back at what happened overnight.

Built for the practical realities of caregiving at night.
Sami’s strongest benefits show up in the quietest moments: when you stop checking the monitor every hour, stop wondering what you missed, and finally feel like you can sleep.
Contact-free monitoring
No watch, band, or wearable to charge, tolerate, or keep on through the night.
Automatic video/audio recordings
Choose continuous, movement-event, or no recording based on your preferences.
Alarms you can adjust for your night
Customize movement size, time-to-alarm, and schedules so caregivers are alerted when movement needs a closer look.
No sharing your home Wi-Fi. No dropped connection when the network gets busy. Sami works in your house, in an RV, at a hotel, or anywhere you go - even if your internet goes out.
Monitor from multiple iPhones or iPads running iOS 16 or later
Caregivers can keep watch from multiple compatible Apple devices at once.
Share recordings directly with your doctor or neurologist.
Recorded events can help families discuss what happened with a care team or doctor.
Trusted by epilepsy specialists and families worldwide
Outside of a hospital environment, high-quality video audio is the best possible evidence. Nocturnal monitors like Sami can be very helpful to families and their care team

Purpose Built
Sami was designed by parents of a child with epilepsy, and a wide range of other sleep disorders.
Highly Customizable
Adjust sensitivity and recording settings to match your child's specific movement patterns.
Contact Free (Touchless)
Nothing to wear or charge. Totally contact-free motion detection.
Complete Security
256-bit AES encryption + password protection. Protect, lock, and permanently delete recordings.
Customizable movement alerts
Set Sami to watch for the movements that matter to your family.
Sami is not a one-size-fits-all monitor. Caregivers can adjust movement settings so alerts better match the person, sleep environment, and types of nighttime movement they want to review.
Choose how much movement matters
Adjust motion size so Sami can focus on the level of movement that is most relevant for your family.
Set how long movement continues
Use time-to-alarm settings to control how long movement should continue before Sami alerts caregivers.
Schedule alerts around sleep routines
Turn alerts on for overnight sleep, naps, or specific monitoring windows, so Sami works when your family needs it most.
Review what triggered the alert
When movement is recorded, caregivers can look back at video/audio context instead of relying on memory.
This customization helps families reduce unnecessary alerts while keeping a closer eye on the nighttime movement they care about most.

How Sami compares to the options many families try first.
Many parents start with a baby monitor, wearable device, or camera they already own. Sami was built for a different kind of nighttime monitoring, with movement alerts, event recordings, and a contact-free setup designed to help caregivers understand what happened overnight.

What families consistently talk about after using Sami.
Parents often come to Sami after long nights, hard questions, and a lot of second-guessing. Their reviews tend to come back to the same themes: more peace of mind, clearer overnight context, and support from people who understand what this decision means.
Review theme
More clarity. More support. More peace of mind at night.
Across reviews and family feedback, caregivers often describe Sami as more than a camera. They talk about finally being able to review what happened overnight, share clearer context with their care team, and get help from a team that understands the weight of the purchase.

Peace of mind at night
Families often describe Sami as a calmer way to monitor sleep without needing to stay fully on alert all night.
Recordings that help doctors see what happened
Caregivers have used Sami recordings to show their neurologist exactly what happened, leading to faster diagnoses and medication adjustments from their care provider.
Support from people who get it
Every member of our support team either has epilepsy or has someone close to them who does. When you reach out, you are talking to someone who has had the same night you are having.
Family-run and personal
Built by a family who understood the worry firsthand.
Sami was created by the Anderson family after they needed a better way to monitor their own son at night. What began as a deeply personal solution became something they could share with other families navigating similar uncertainty.
Today, Sami is still personal. From setup help to ongoing support, the people behind the product understand that this is not just another device. It is part of how your family gets through the night with more clarity, confidence, and support.

Frequently asked
questions
Have questions before choosing a setup? Start here. These answers cover the things most families want to understand first: which Sami option fits their home, how the Sami Hub works, what recordings include, and what support is available after purchase.
Which Sami setup is right for my family?
Most families choose the Camera + Sami Hub, and for good reason. The Sami Hub creates its own private network so Sami works independently of your home Wi-Fi, travels with you, and stays connected even if your internet goes out. The Complete Kit includes everything, Camera, Sami Hub, and iPad, so there is nothing else to buy and setup is as simple as it gets. Not sure which is right for your situation? Take the quick quiz to find your recommended Sami setup, or Schedule a free 15-minute call with a Sami expert and we will help you decide.
Can I share recordings with my neurologist or care team?
Yes. Recordings can be saved from the app to your camera roll and then shared however works best for you, by email, text, or however you communicate with your care team. Families and caregivers regularly use Sami footage to show their neurologist exactly what happened overnight, which has helped change medication plans and confirm diagnoses that were previously unclear.
Does Sami accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance directly, but many families get Sami covered through other pathways. HSA and FSA funds can be used toward your purchase. Foundation grants including the Danny Did Foundation have helped families receive Sami at no cost. Medicaid waivers cover Sami in many states. Financing through Affirm and Shop Pay is also available if you prefer to spread the cost over time. Visit our Funding Guide to find the options that apply to your family.
How does Sami alert you?
Alerts are delivered directly through the Sami app on your Apple device. The app must be open and running to receive an alert. To keep things calm overnight, Sami has a clock mode that dims the screen to black so the device stays dark and quiet on your nightstand until an alert fires, at which point the live view appears. There is no alarm on the camera itself, so the camera will not make noise or light up in the room and disturb the person being monitored.
How do I know if Sami will work for us?
The best way is to talk to someone on our team. Every member of our support team either has epilepsy or has someone close to them who does. We can walk through your specific situation, sleep setup, and what you are hoping to monitor and give you an honest answer. If Sami is not the right fit we will tell you. Schedule a free 15-minute call with a Sami expert.
Does Sami record all night or only when there is movement?
You choose. Sami gives you three recording options: continuous recording all night, movement-triggered recording that only captures when the camera detects activity, or no recording at all if you prefer to use alerts and live view only. You can adjust this at any time in the app settings based on what works best for your family.
How far away can the camera be placed?
Place the Sami camera wherever it has a clear, unobstructed view of the sleep area. It can be mounted on the ceiling, wall, a flat surface, or used with a floor stand depending on your room setup. If you are unsure where to place it, schedule a free 15-minute call with a Sami expert and we can help you find the best position.
Where are my recordings stored? Is anything uploaded to the cloud?
Do I need a doctor's prescription or referral to purchase Sami?
No. Sami is available directly to families and caregivers without a doctor's order, referral, or prescription of any kind. You can purchase directly from samialert.com and have it set up at home within minutes of arrival.
Can multiple caregivers monitor at the same time?
Yes. Up to four compatible Apple devices can be connected to Sami at once, so parents, grandparents, or other caregivers can all monitor simultaneously.
Does Sami require a subscription?
No. Sami is a one-time purchase. The monitoring app and all local recordings are included with no monthly fees ever.
Is there financial assistance available for Sami?
Yes. Many families are surprised to find there are several ways to get Sami covered or reduce the cost significantly. Foundation grants through organizations like the Danny Did Foundation can cover the full cost for qualifying families. HSA and FSA accounts can be used toward your purchase. Medicaid waivers cover Sami in many states. Affirm and Shop Pay let you spread the cost over monthly payments. Visit our Funding Guide to see everything available to your family.
Does Sami work for my specific situation?
Sami is used by families and caregivers managing epilepsy, Dravet Syndrome, LGS, cerebral palsy, DUP15Q, and many other conditions across all ages, from infants to adults. Sami monitors motor-based movements during sleep and works best when there is visible movement during nighttime events. Every situation is different though, and we never want to guess when it comes to yours. Schedule a free 15-minute call with a Sami expert and we will give you an honest answer about whether Sami is the right fit.
Does Sami work if there is little or no movement during an event?
Sami monitors motor-based movements, so some visible movement is required for the system to alert. If an event produces no physical movement, Sami will not trigger an alert. Sami is sensitive enough to pick up subtle movements, but the alert is always based on movement. This is why we always recommend speaking with a Sami expert before purchasing if you are unsure whether Sami is the right fit for your specific situation. Schedule a free 15-minute call here.
Does Sami require home wifi?"
No. The Sami Hub creates its own private network so Sami works completely independently of your home internet. That means no interference from other devices, no dropped connection if your Wi-Fi goes out, and full monitoring capability when you travel. Many families use Sami with the Sami Hub in RVs, hotels, and at family members' homes.
Can Sami see through mesh or safety bed sides?
In many cases, yes. Sami can often monitor through standard mesh or enclosed bed sides, as long as the material is not reflective and the camera has a clear enough view of the person being monitored. Since bed setups can vary, reach out to our team if you are unsure — we’re happy to help you confirm the best placement.
Do you ship to Canada?
Yes, we ship to Canada.
Do you ship internationally?
We do not ship directly from samialert.com to all countries, but Sami is available internationally through our regional partners. Customers in the EU, UK, Israel, and Northern Africa can purchase through Epilepsy Solutions. Customers in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, and other APAC locations can purchase through Seizure Alert Australia.
What is your return policy?
You have 45 days to try Sami in your home. If it is not the right fit, you can return it for a full refund. Read the full return policy here.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. Every Sami purchase includes a one-year warranty.
Is Sami compatible with Android?
No. Sami is only compatible with Apple devices at this time.
How long does setup take?
Most families are up and running within 30 minutes. Our setup instructions are clear and easy to follow, and if you need any help along the way our support team is just a message away. Every member of our support team either has epilepsy or has someone close to them who does, so you are never talking to someone who does not understand what you are setting this up for.
